Amano Shrimp (12 Count)

Caridina multidentata

Named for the person who popularized the shrimp, Takashi Amano. In his book “Nature Aquarium World” page 111, he describes how he came to find this shrimp and bring it to the planted tank enthusiasts. His tank pictured on page 110 and 111 from 1986 used the shrimp to clean algae from his plants – this shows just how far ahead of his time he was and how his influence is still shaping the burgeoning shrimp and plant hobby. As he predicted in his book the yamato-numaebi (Amano shrimp name before it was popularized by Amano) would sell thousands for the person supplying them. Mr. Amano guessed a little low on that number, but he knew they would be popular and they are still popular today to control annoying algae.
