At Dan's Fish, we genuinely care for our fish and our customers. The fish currently for sale here have been in our care for at least 2 weeks (often longer) and have been carefully quarantined, medicated, and acclimated to aquarium life and foods.

We have been keeping, breeding, importing, and shipping fish to satisfied customers since the early 1990's. We take great pride in our tried-and-true shipping methods and confidently guarantee that our fish will arrive alive.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY

It is our responsibility to properly prepare the fish for shipping, select visibly healthy stock, and pack the fish according to best practices before we send them to our customers.

OUR CUSTOMERS' RESPONSIBILITY

It is our customers' responsibility to have an appropriate, stable environment ready for the fish and to transfer the fish from the shipping package to said environment promptly upon the fishes arrival. This cannot be done without first obtaining knowledge about the needs of the fish being purchased. At Dan's Fish, we advocate for responsible pet care. The single most important thing a person can do in order to be a responsible fish owner is to educate themselves about the animals they intend to keep and have an appropriate environment cycled and ready for said fish well before the fish arrive. We encourage our customers to become knowledgeable about any animal they wish to purchase and consider it a customer's responsibility to do so. There is usually ample information online about the fish sold at Dan's Fish. Please seek it out before purchasing any of our animals. If you do, the fish will have a better quality of life and you will get much more enjoyment out of them.

LIVE ARRIVAL GUARANTEE

While Dan's Fish ALWAYS guarantees our fish will arrive alive, if the fish sit around in the shipping package for any length of time after delivery, their health may suffer. To prevent this, we require a picture of any deceased fish in the unopened bag be emailed to us at hello@dansfish.com within one hour of delivery. The pic must clearly show the fish in the unopened bag. After an hour, we assume the fish were neglected on a sunny or snowy porch and are deceased as a result. Failure to send the required picture within one hour of delivery voids all guarantees and refunds.

Please understand that, while we do everything we can to get your fish to you promptly, once they are sent, they are out of our direct care. We do not control the post and cannot guarantee when the fish will arrive. However, we pack the fish carefully and guarantee live arrival even if the fish are delayed in the post.

Providing Dan's Fish with an incorrect or incomplete mailing address at checkout voids all guarantees and all refunds. WE CAN'T DIG THROUGH EMAILS FOR YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS. WE WILL SHIP THESE FISH TO THE ADDRESS PROVIDED AT CHECKOUT/PAYMENT, SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT IS CORRECT!!!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACTIVATING OUR GUARANTEE:

In a case where a customer provided Dan's Fish with the correct shipping address in the corresponding field during checkout, and;

A deceased fish is delivered to the customer, and;

The customer emails a digital picture clearly showing the deceased fish in its sealed, unopened bag to hello@dansfish.com within an hour of delivery of the fish to the customer;

Then Dan's Fish will gladly refund any losses. We will also refund any prorated shipping charges which correspond to the lost item/s so you don't get stuck with shipping charges on top of the fish losses.

Our goal is to grow this hobby by sending healthy fish to happy customers. Most of our customers never have any reason to claim a refund, but, if the need arises, please know that we will take prompt action to rectify the situation as outlined above.

SHIPPING

We will contact you via email after you order with a shipping plan. This email is usually sent out the day after you order, although it can be 2 days during weekends, holidays, and the like. We will provide you with a tracking number when the fish are shipped so you will know when they arrive and can take prompt care of their needs.

Once again, WE WILL BE SENDING FISH TO THE SHIPPING ADDRESS PROVIDED AT CHECKOUT, SO PLEASE CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT IS CORRECT BEFORE YOUR ORDER IS PAID FOR.

Please note: Dan's Fish is regulated by the Wyoming Fish and Game Commission and is subject to and will comply with the requirements outlined in Chapter 51, Private Fish Hatcheries, including all reporting duties as outlined in Section 14.

  • Comment: I'm very happy with this group of fish and shrimp. After one week the loach and the tetras are doing well, although I did lose one of the platinum tetras within the 1st few days. The shrimp are beginning to come out of hiding and have really been working on the plant algae...hard workers!

The CPD's were an exceptional group and I've ordered a few more to increase their numbers. The black Otocinclus are very tiny and disappeared for a few days, but are adapting very well.

All are in a planted bowl with no filter as my classroom is challenged in terms of electrical outlets. Dan's was recommended by Aquarium Co-op and well worth it!

  • Comment: The 8 Longfin Cherry Barbs I received are stunning, and still thriving now 7 weeks later. (Word to the wise -- request a mix of sexes if that's what you want. I got all very beautiful males, but wanted some females, too, but failed to specify that. That was rectified in a later order.) The 3 Siamese Algae Eaters have thrived and grown at an astounded rate. The 10 Harlequin Rasboras have done great (excluding one mystery death) and they have reminded me why this species is so popular. They are beautiful, active, and peaceful. The 7 Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnows, unfortunately had something going on with them. One arrived dead, and 4 more died within days from no obvious cause. Apparently some started dying in Dan's tank, too. In the upstanding approach that I've come to expect from Dan's, I was refunded for all the white clouds I ordered (and their shipping cost), and they removed this batch of fish from their list of fish available for sale.

  • Comment: I appreciate the willingness of the crew to select all female longfin Cherry Barbs to add to the all male group I had received on the prior order. Now I can get going on breeding them. They are gorgeous, this line of longfin cherry barbs. And not a single health problem with them. All are still fat and sassy after 6+ weeks in my aquaria. The crew noticed that the white clouds were having some problems in Dan's tanks after being listed for sale, so they removed them from my order and refunded the cost, which I appreciate.

  • Comment: I was tempted to order from Dan's Fish after watching a YouTube video who recommended this supplier. I assumed that they are customer-oriented. So, I placed an order last Dec. 6. I received an email on Dec. 10 informing me that the planned shipping date will be on Dec. 16. I assumed that everything is in order. Dec. 9 at around 4PM, I received an email informing me that one of the fishes that I have ordered is unavailable. I asked why was I not informed and I was told that when they tried to pull the fish today it was not there. I find it odd in various aspects: 1. They should keep track of their inventory levels listed in their website and verify if they can accommodate the order prior to confirming the order. 2.They should have checked before sending me an information of the planning shipping date last Dec. 10 if all of my orders are available. 2. Why were they pulling the fish in the late afternoon on a day before it is scheduled to be shipped? Aren't they supposed to have the fish fast prior to shipping? I patiently waited for my shipment for 9 days only to cancel it at the last minute because the main fish that should have been shipped is not available. What a waste of time. Plus they are not even apologetic about it considering this is their oversight. This experience is really horrible. I will not place an order again.

One of the great challenges with live fish sales involves inventory health and accuracy. It is something that we are actively working to improve.
