6 Melanotaenia susii
6 juvenile Melanotaenia susii rainbow fish. I imported my breeders from Jeffrey Christian from Indonesia. Hans-Georg Evers, Mike Drawdy and Jeffrey Christian collected this fish in the Bird’s Head Peninsula of New Guinea in March 2019. In the May/June 2021 edition of Amazonas p. 81-86 Hans-Georg Evers describes how he and his friends collected this fish and M. klasioensis (later in January 2020). According to Hans-Georg Evers a distinguishing feature between these two sister species is the black or transparent upper and lower caudal fin rays in M. klasioensis, while the red edge of the caudal fin in M. susii extends all the way to the tips. M. susii males also display black vertical stripes in the front half of the body. Both species are endangered in the wild due to habitat loss. The juvenile fish for sale are 1-2”.
