Young adults 1 to 1.5 inches long, colored up and almost ready to breed.

Male Aphyosemion striatum of the collection from the Cap de Estrellas location in Gabon Africa are a beautiful blue and green killifish covered in small red spots arranged in horizontal stripes. They are usually found to be an easy one to breed and a good starter killifish. Use a long top mop for breeding, though it is not uncommon to gather many fry from the tank also. They are non-annual killifish that live several years and grow to about 2 inches long. Photo is of a parent and the male you receive should look very similar (though younger). Like most killifish, the females are mostly colorless. They may occasionally try to fly off to the next life, So keep a lid on 'em.

My fish room is maintained at 72-78 deg F. My Killi tanks have no heaters, and the fish do fine at fish room temperatures. I use RO water re-mineralized with SeaChem Equilibrium (or a custom in house mix that is similar) to a Hardness of 4-6 dH, alkalinity of 3-5 dKh, and a pH of 7.2 to 7.5. The TDS ranges from 150ppm to 250ppm. No salt (NaCl) is used or added to the tanks, though a small amount may be added to bagging water for transport.
