Lemon Tetra

Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis

Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis is also one of the more ignored tetras in the hobby for reasons that are baffling. Just look at that picture! Lemon Tetras are probably found in Brazil, Rio Xingu drainage, but there is no conclusive evidence to suggest that is true due to many conflicting reports. Photos exist of fish that look like Lemon Tetras swimming in the Rio Xingu basin, so let’s put a pin in that. The fish in the hobby are captive raised and they are gorgeous. You will likely not regret getting a small group of these fish as they are beautiful! When last they were found in an aquarium in my house, the tank footprint was 20 inches x 20 inches and I think they would have liked a 20 x 30 footprint a touch better. 12 fish or less will be fine in a 20 gallon tank. Non-fussy eater looked best when the water was very clean.
