Wild caught shrimp are often drab and they will hint at blues, reds and yellow – but rarely anything as vibrant as a Cherry Red Shrimp. This incredibly common shrimp is among the most popular shrimp in the hobby due to its ease of care, deep red coloration and quick reproduction time. If you have no other shrimp, this is a really good starting point. We order grade A Cherry Red Shrimp from Taiwan and get shrimp that are both deep red and very hardy. Since they only live for 1.5 to 2 years, we do not order them at their largest size, rather a size that is capable of reproduction, but not maxed out. We often have 1,000’s of small shrimp in the holding tank with the adults.
