Boesemani rainbowfish are gorgeous, fast moving fish that get 4-6 inches in size. The Aves Creek variety are intensely colored when in flare. Males will develop an almost black face, yellow center and a bright red center to tail. The dorsal fin will be red, edged with white. These colors will be in full display every morning when they are sparring or spawning.

Rainbowfish are peaceful, but very active. Length in an aquarium is more important than height with these stunners. They appreciate a planted tank with smooth hardscape, and a lid, as they can be quite the jumpers! They aren't very picky about their diet, but they do have a smaller throat, so flake foods and live foods are a preferred meal. They may choke on pellets. Boesemani can be started off in a 3 foot tank, but as they grow, it is recommended to move them to a 4 foot tank. They will really appreciate the swimming room.

Boesemani rainbowfish are quite adaptive to aquarium parameters. We keep our Aves in a temp of 80F, Ph 7.2-7.4, kH 8-9, TDS 200ish.
