The Dwarf Tiger Lotus (Nymphaea maculate) is an African lily that is commonly used in aquariums. It does best in temperatures from 70°-85° F (22°-30° Celsius). A pH of 5-8 works for this plant but it grows best in softer water closer to a pH of 5. This lily has a dark red pattern on its leaves and a purple underside. The leaves are round shaped and can reach 6 inches in diameter. It produces a small white colored flower up to 2½ in diameter. The plant should let loose in the aquarium. The bulb should not be buried in the substrate.
