Aplocheilus lineatus has been a favorite for well nigh a century....maybe even longer. Many old-timer killifish keepers list this species as their favorite fish. A couple of decades ago, a bright golden variant showed up and became established. These are what we know now as "Golden Wonder Killies."

This is a top dwelling species which love snatching food from the surface. They are excellent jumpers and will leap out of the water to grab bugs, so a tight fitting lid is important.
