Description:

I’ve reduced my fishroom from 113 tanks (3,800 gal) to 32 tanks (420 gal). I no longer keep a wide variety of fish. Instead I am concentrating on a few strains of fancy guppies and several select species of rare and/or wild type livebearers.

I am a lifelong aquarist and former (retired) high school Biology teacher who retains a high degree of interest in genetics and animal science. In my guppy program I carefully select breeders that carry traits for health/vigor, size, color, and finnage. In contrast, with my wilds, I keep 2 parallel lines of fish that are colony bred and cross those lines to maintain a varied gene pool, only removing fish that lack fitness.

I keep easy low maintenance plants, bristlenose plecos and neocardina shrimp in most aquariums. Everything I sell has been grown in my fishroom and is in excess of my needs.
